Composed of eight glass smalti mosaic sections, each about 25ft high x 13.5 ft wide, the imagery makes reference to classical drapery rendered throughout art history in marble, mosaic, fresco and paint. The goddess Justitia was the personification of justice in ancient Roman art, and in this mosaic, the folds of her robes sweep around the central oculus like the wind and space that surrounds us- a metaphor for the protection of justice and the work of the law as it is supposed to be enacted in this country.
