Press Release

As part of the Arts Initiative’s interdisciplinary study of time, Grace Farms Foundation will present a new, site-responsive sculpture from artist Alyson Shotz. Using the most minimal of sculptural means and materials, this piece takes the form of an ellipse, echoing the annual journey of our planet, shaped by gravity and the warping of space time. The sculpture is also itself a marker of our time and place in the cosmos, acting as a sort of abstract sundial.

Temporal Shift interacts with the sunlight and will animate an interior courtyard of the River building, describing time as the seasons change. The sculpture is a part of the Art Initiative's ongoing interdisciplinary study of time, led by Kenyon Victor Adams, Arts Initiative Creative Director and Pamela Ruggio, Arts Initiative Curator.
